ATnotes 小故事

為什麼 ATnotes 的發展曾一度中斷呢 ? (^^|||

ATnotes is no longer available

Here's the situation:

I am not the developer of ATnotes. I started using this wonderful program around 6.0 or so, and I liked it so much that I offered some web space to Thomas Ascher, developer of ATnotes.

Long story short: I have 10 GB of transfer alotted per month on my site and ATnotes started to cost me extra money in bandwidth overage fees. I wrote Thomas and offered to help in any way I could (from letting him pay the overage fees, to putting up a temporary page and helping him migrate to a new server), but I needed to stop paying the overage fees.

This is what he wrote back:

Kurt,

i have had time to think about the new situation and decided to discontinue ATnotes for a while.

This is NOT AT ALL intended to make you change your mind or make you feel bad. Actually it is not too inconvenient for me as i was thinking of taking a time out anyway.

It has been a nice time being online with ATnotes (especially with your kind help), maybe (or probably?) i will come back to the web with ATnotes sometimes in the future...

Thomas

P.S. I've already deleted my homepage.

I didn't have time to backup his page or even nab the most current version of ATnotes.

ATnotes is gone for now, and I don't have the most current copy. The best place to get a copy would be from PC Magazine (version 8.21). You can download that here:

http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/0,fid,17660,fileidx,1,00.png

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at: k_payne@--REMOVE_THIS--ureach.com (just take out the --REMOVE_THIS-- part and you'll be fine, it's only in there to prevent spamming).

Thomas Ascher's e-mail address is: tom1971@--REMOVE_THIS--hotmail.com. I have heard, however, that e-mails to that address are being bounced. Other than that e-mail, I have no way of contacting Thomas Ascher.

If Thomas or anyone else who knows how to get in touch with him sees this page, please send me the most current version of ATnotes and I will find a way to disseminate it on usenet or mirrors.

** UPDATE **
I have recieved a copy of atnotes version 9.01 thanks to Patrick De Giorgi! I will work on getting this version out on the net in some fashion. If anybody wants to mirror it, please let me know! Once I get one legitimate mirror (outside my server) I will post it for download and start keeping a mirror list on this site.

Thank you,
--Kurt Payne
